Alternatives for some of the apps I was using such as Google Calendar, Google Keep, etc and so on... simplemobiletools.com/

@pkimpton I use some of them also. Nice programs, but due to the privacy included sometimes a bit to few functions. Send as you were caught deep in the Google jungle... :)

@rakor see with me basically I don't need a calendar synced between a server and backed up online. That's why their calendar works best. Notepad I can keep stuff on my micro sd along with my resume, etc anyways. Nothing being synced sure, but also not killing my battery.

@pkimpton of want to sync it try out syncthing. I use it to keep my stuff synced and it is fine and open source

@rakor Don't see much difference between that or NextCloud or OwnCloud. But definitely another good option.

@pkimpton well owncloud-sync was always a bit freaky here and drained my battery. Plus, you don't need a server running, because it is decentralized.

@rakor Either way if I need to transfer notes or text files or music and videos between my laptop and phone I have an ssh connection open all the time on the roommate's router.
