Looking for a #FOSS #VoiceAssistant with a much better #Privacy policy than #Mycroft (which just ate #Rhasspy)? #Genie is looking amazing, and uses unique algo's to understand requests that #Amazon #Alexa and #GoogleAssistant can't!

This is #Almond Gen 2, (developed by #Stanford Uni),. They've made big improvements. It also has a bunch of integrations with things like #HomeAssistant, #RSS , #Weather more.

The main thing they need now is more users! Check it out:

One of the cool things about Genie is it doesn't need to to use precise, pre-programmed sentences to be understood. Genie takes natural language sentences and then interprets the meaning of them to get it's commands.

This means you can say things in a wide, natural variety of ways that would leave #Alexa and #googleassistant stumped.

It also uses an open skill store (#Thingiverse) than any voice assistant project can also use.

It also supports speaker/microphone satellites in other rooms!

#Genie just really needs active users (and contributors) to show Stanford that this is worth continuing to support.

@Blort would this run on a PP? Probably with the server on another machine?

@petrisch Intriguing idea! The client apparently runs fine on a #RaspberryPi Zero 2W, so I imagine even the OG #Pinephone would have significantly more processor power.

@petrisch It does integrate into #HomeAssistant, and the HA web app was able to use it's previous incarnation, #Almond, so I'll try accessing mine through #AngelFish or #Firefox on my PP.
