Richard Donner’s INSIDE MOVES (1980) is on Prime if you need some positive energy in your life.
John Savage, Diana Scarwid, and David Morse lead a quirky ensemble in this tale of second chances and the power of found family.
someone in the chat asked if the flx1 can run a KVM machine and my initial thought process was well, probably not out of the box since during the boot process EL2 is locked and even if kernel has KVM, it will never initialize correctly.
so today after finishing my daily tasks i decided to take a stab at our bootloader, preloader and trustzone's source code.
Lo and behold, turns out i did indeed cook.
Docker support will land in the next release too!
@danirabbit Yelp fully blocks me from using their site on a mobile browser, you get a pop up to open the app and no alternative way forward. I don't want their app. And I also don't get why they do that.
@cyberlyra Lots of info presented concisely and clearly. Nice. I recently did some of this, moved my contacts into Nextcloud.
Get ready to leave toxic Social Media by ensuring your contacts and calendars are up to date and stored somewhere that isn't owned by a Big Tech Oligarch.
Up next, secure messaging -- then we really start pulling the plug. :)
@interfluidity Is anti-monopoly more popular than anti-crypto?
@davidzipper Interesting connection. For a while, there was talk about taking on sugary beverage industry using the anti-tobacco playbook. But I think you are right that that analogy misses a key element, but SUV bloat does have that element.
@schykle Makes sense, yes always trade-offs. They are on Debian Sid though so it is reasonable for a lot of use cases. I’m using it on a Framework laptop with the AMD chip, which is fairly new-ish
@pojntfx @thibaultamartin @ErikUden I didn’t realize Hetzner offered such a service. I hadn’t seen it mentioned on the Nextcloud website for example. Those prices are super reasonable… if I were setting up Nextcloud today I would very likely go with that option.
Excited to announce that I’m teaming up with Anuj Ahooja on a new non-profit for the open social web, across protocols, with Bridgy Fed as its first main project! Introducing A New Social.
When I posted Possible futures for Bridgy Fed a while back, I was surprised and gratified by the outpouring of support. So many of you really believe in it and want it to survive, grow, and find a stable footing beyond the useful little one-person side project it is today.
Some people stepped up even further and said, “I’m willing to put the work in and actually help build, drive, and even lead this.” Anuj is one of those people. He’s a renaissance man who’s worked on the fediverse and open social web for many years at sub.club, Flipboard, and more. He’s written at length about the potential he sees in the open social web, across all sorts of networks – “people, not platforms!” – and how we have an opportunity now that we haven’t had in a long time.
And there are so many more of you, across the space, who’ve joined and committed to supporting us! We’re truly humbled and grateful. We’re still only at the very beginning, we have a lot of work to do, but we’re excited to get started. Wish us luck, and please reach out if you want to get involved!
Otto Preminger's THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM premiered this week in 1955.
Sinatra is flawless in a startlingly frank film that helped loosen the Code's chokehold. And Kim Novak is heartbreaking.
Streaming everywhere because it's public domain, but beware of poor or colorized(!) transfers.

@Wendinope I see, yeah I think it is all about trade offs, and right now for me the FLX1 is hitting the right balance. But I actually have a used P3a in a drawer, given all the recent progress they’ve been making, I might give pmOS a spin soon.
@Wendinope Just curious what is the reasoning behind requiring postmarket os? I’ve been daily driving an FLX1 from Furilabs and pretty impressed with all it can do.

This is an illustration of the outside the #armynavy game in 1955. For decades, the Pennsylvania Railroad used to run special services to and from the army-navy game in Philadelphia, utilizing a nearby yard as a makeshift station. This occurred almost every year from 1936 to 1975. With the exception of 1975, this special service was always lead by fully-electric GG1 locomotives as pictured below.

@micah I am very happy with the FLX1. I am not a power user on the phone and it works for me. All of the basics work (calls, sms, LTE data), and the bugs are getting ironed out gradually during monthly update releases. I saw a good review from @Luigi311 that is worth looking at for more detail: https://blog.luigi311.com/furilabs-flx1/
