I love the #replyall podcast, but... FUCK the latest 171 episode.
Paraphrasing: "I hate that Twitter can decide who gets banned, I wish people made different social platforms where there is no central power like that".
Yes, I live in a fediverse bubble. But surely, with just a tiny bit of research, they could have found the fediverse, right? At least, Mastodon?
Now they leave it hanging as all other article: "Twitter sucks, but what can we do? No good alternatives"

Putting out a request: do you work for the University of Wisconsin-Madison Libraries? There’s a rare CD-ROM I’m looking for for research purposes, and it appears the only copy held in North America is in that library. Any help is appreciated. https://search.library.wisc.edu/catalog/9910761664802121

@strypey Agreed, I thought that was just an amazing documentary after watching.
@chrispanag I like Friendica because it can be a social network combined with RSS following of blogs/substacks. If you want to test out a Friendica node we have one with open registration at https://sendero.social/
@hypolite @cj@mastodon.technology My main accomplishment of 2020 was getting the family chat moved to Signal :)

@dansup Great work! Any news on the iOS app?
@lightweight Interesting! Well I don't know that there has been any government-wide official policy, but I just have seen several projects at US govt agencies using CC-0. So it looks to me like things are moving that way.
@lightweight In the US, Section 105 of the Copyright Act says that all work created by the federal government has no copyright protection and is part of the public domain. This includes software.
This post suggests that best practices are converging on releasing code created by the US government under CC-0

@tpheine @jwildeboer Congrats! Unfortunately I am also unable to follow you from my pixelfed instance, even when searching for the instance/username URL nothing appears. There do seem to be some big federation issues still. If you want to try to follow me, I'll add you back if it works. I am at pixel.sendero.social/mattp
