More @postmarketOS fun, with a OnePlus 6.

I bought a SIM, on the Three network (UK), put it in, and restarted the phone.

It detected the SIM card automatically on reboot.

SMS arrived immediately.

I enabled mobile data, and it Just Worked. Traffic gets routed over the WireGuard tunnel.

I can make a phone call.

I can receive a phone call.

Early days for testing this side of things, but it works.

@neil Do you know if the successful calls are over a 2G/3G signal, or using VoLTE (4G calling)? I understand the UK is in the process of shutting down 2G/3G networks, but not sure about that particular carrier at the moment. The issue in the USA is that 2G and 3G have been shut down, so VoLTE functionality is needed here. But I know things vary by country and even carrier.

@mpanhans I would have to guess at 4G, as this operator does not have 2G networks, and I was connected to a 4G network at the time.

@mpanhans

We are shutting down 3G networks here, but our 2G networks will be around for a while.

@neil Ooh that is very interesting then. Are you on edge or stable image of pmOS?
