Launching a PeerTube instance
I'm in the process of launching a branded PeerTube instance that's intended to serve as a small community of creators. The brand is called Spectra, and while nothing has officially launched yet, I'm slowly building up plans. Ideally, the instance would be designed to be self-funded by creators and viewers, but I'm in a financial position to carry it for a long while.
The goal is to create a well-moderated, invite-only instance with closed sign-ups. People on the instance will create video content and have links for financial support like Patreon featured prominently, and we'll start out by selectively federating with good instances that don't just flood the video catalogue with crap. It would be a concentrated, curated effort, but the intention is to create two incentives:
1. Give the video fediverse actually good stuff to watch.
2. Give video creators an incentive to make something, as well as a community with other people who also want to make something.
If you're a video creator, either on #PeerTube or elsewhere, and you'd like to take part in this weird experiment, please respond to me either here or in a DM.

@sean This is a fantastic idea. There is a trend now of YouTubers moving off that site to better control their own content and monetization: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-55349255
I always thought PeerTube would be the perfect tool to facilitate that trend, so I think you are on to something and at a good moment.
YTers who don't even know about PeerTube could be into this. Could be worth reaching out to some and inviting them to cross-post videos to the instance as a start.
