@liblast I had to do something very similar for a cell phone app commercial several years ago. Did in Blender. There's something oddly satisfying about doing this sort of effect!
@micahbp Yeah! Only in Blender you can just throw thousands of samples at it and have anything render perfectly alias-free. The hardest part was making it work in realtime without any form of supersampling :D - unfa
