@tenacity has a WAY better out of the box experience than ! The theming is way better and the general feel is way more modern! Good on the team!!

@micahbp @tenacity Is it usable on a 4k monitor? (Because, unbelievably, Audacity isn't).

@chimera @tenacity It's different enough to give it a try. I don't have 4K on my primary machine. I'd have to install on another computer. But the Flatpak is dead easy to install

@micahbp @tenacity I'll give it a go (when I'm back from holiday). I'll be sure to check some of the other things which make Audacity a struggle: plug-in management, and the bizarre need to maximize then minimize the app for the scroll bar to appear spring to mind but there are others.

@micahbp @tenacity I'm sure I'm doing something stupid but I just can't get Tenacity to run. I installed it via Flatpak and run from the regular app launcher (I'm using Linux Mint - Cinnamon) and I immediately get a "Tenacity is starting up... is not responding" dialog with Force Quit or Wait as options. I choose wait. syslog contains:
Started app-flatpak-org.tenacityaudio.Tenacity-11792.scope.
rtkit-daemon[1410]: Failed to look up client: No such file or directory

This is repeatable. Are flatpas broken?

@chimera @tenacity I have not used Linux Mint much myself. But maybe it's something wrong from the installer. I would recommend going to Flathub and installing via the terminal

@micahbp @tenacity I installed from the terminal (seems fine) but I'm running it from the standard way of running any app. I could poke around and try and start it from the command line but that's not what the docs suggest.

@chimera @tenacity Try to do a Flatpak update actually!! It may find missing dependencies. I believe it should just be sudo flatpak update. I have Flatpak update through the Pop Shop so I don't update via the terminal much😂

@chimera @micahbp Please see this workaround here: github.com/audacity/audacity/i

(While this is for the Audacity Flatpak it should also work for the Tenacity Flatpak)

@tenacity @micahbp Yep, perfect! I humbly suggest putting this workaround into the Tenacity Linux install instructions.

Also, regarding my earlier comments, Tenacity solves both the lack of 4k support and missing scrollbar bug from Audacity.

Thank you very much!

@chimera @micahbp No problem! We'll definitely put these instructions for the next release too! 😄

@micahbp @tenacity fantastic. I have always absolutely hated audacity's UI. Just installed tenacity and immediately like it better.
