That refers to the country of origin which is confirm to be China.
Not false, but that's not why he calls it that.
He calls it that because a) he can't either pronounce or remember the virus' proper name, and b) he can't pass on a chance to mention China in the same sentence as something really bad. And that makes it wrong to call it "Chinese viruse", even though it may not be false.
@micahbp WHO has recommended against naming diseases after geographic locations, and the US administration's insistence of calling it the "Chinese virus" (Trump up until recently) or the "Wuhan virus" (Pompeo vs. the G7, yesterday) is widely seen as needlessly inflammatory.
