I fucking HATE USB-C. Well, not the concept, but the cables. If the cable isn't perfectly matched to the device and port, speed is drastically reduced.
For example, I have a USB NVMe adapter. With one cable, rated 40G so properly rated, it benched at 24 MEGABYTES per second !! Flip it around, maybe it goes faster or maybe not. Pulled another cable out, 400 MEGABYTES per second. Another cable, a GIGABYTE per second.
In the end, it's cable roulette to obtain rated speeds because barely any cables are labelled and SOME only work properly in one direction, despite being reversible.
I want my USB-A back 😿

I have a 2024 iPad and I have a Display Dock from 2015 that came with my Lumia phone, I can plug the iPad into it to use external video output, and peripherals, so I can e.g. use the iPad with a TV and a USB keyboard. And it all works with a cable that came with Lumia, but not with the one that came with the iPad. It's not a bad cable, an original Apple one, but somehow it just doesn't work in this configuration 🤯
@m0xee @mirabilos@toot.mirbsd.org You bring up another related and highly annoying problem with USBC.

I also have a USB-C cable that works perfectly fine for data transfers, it works at maximum data throughputs, but with this cable I can't charge my phone. At all! It even drains the battery slowly when it remains plugged into the phone. This is beyond broken! 😩
