I don't even like Spice and Wolf that much.
@eric
I used to hate it at some point in the past even, because of all the hype surrounding it.
I mean the show is okay β€” good even! But it's not even remotely close to what its fans paint it to be: "Oh, but the economics!"
C'mon, guys, what economics?! It's real basic business stuff: buy cheap, sell expensive; long-term investments yield greater returns – things like that. It's not even Keynes-grade stuff β€” and that would feel weird if made into anime anyway :marseyemojismilemoutheyes:
@splitshockvirus @m0xEE why buy Helldivers 2 when it's going to go obsolete when Helldivers 3 comes out
@m0xEE @splitshockvirus why does the Black Mamba (actually Kobe Bryant) cost more than twice as much as the Kobe Bryant version
@splitshockvirus @m0xEE My dad plays Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 on his PSP and Age of Empires II/III on his work PC exclusively
@eric
But I don't have Steam or L4D in Steam β€” and I'm not even sure if it'd work even if I try. Unless I use Windows… But that looks like going into too much trouble, sorry :marseyshy2:
Considering that I probably won't bring much value into the game as it still takes something to get used to and last time I played anything was remastered Quake and it was a few months ago already :marseyemojismilemouthcoldsweat:
@splitshockvirus
@m0xEE @splitshockvirus I will admit I have no played any Quake game. And id should put the original Quake binaries on Steam because ioquake isn't in the Arch repositories.
@eric
Oh, that we can play!
Void should have the binaries and building it won't be a problem anyway, have to download the game data though, I think I had it on GOG…
@splitshockvirus
@m0xEE @splitshockvirus @m0xee I found $10 on the streets and finally bought all the Quake games and now I don't have money to pay for my hourly rent of my apartment

(How do I enable widescreen support in Quake 3?)

@eric @m0xEE @splitshockvirus @dcc
I'm not sure what wide-screen is at this point, my displays are 2560x1600 which I believe isn't wide enough by modern standards πŸ€ͺ
But you probably shouldn't be using the default Quake 3 engine anyway, check out Quake3e: github.com/ec-/Quake3e
Which itself is a fork of ioquake3. I think it supports any resolution you can throw at it.
Remaster of original Quake should support it as well, but I'm not sure it came with your bundle, try QuakeSpasm if not.

@m0xee @m0xEE @splitshockvirus @dcc I have it set to 2048*1536 rn and my player model is kinda screwed up in Player Settings. Any mods that fix this? The version string of the Steam release is "Q3 1.32 win-x86 Oct 2002" (I can only take a full screenshot because Quake 3 disabled the Windows screenshot shortcut)

I think I have the Quake remaster because the version of Quake I have has Steam achievements support lol

@eric
> I have the Quake remaster
Good, this one's quite usable!
As for original Quake 3 binaries β€” I think they only include them for archival purposes at this point, AFAIR those targeted OpenGL 1.3 and can be quite buggy on modern hardware. Grab Quake3e β€” it even has Vulkan renderer, I don't think you will have this issue with it, basically, you only need .pk3 files from the Steam game. There is also a CD key, but I think it's generic for all Steam players.
@dcc @m0xEE @splitshockvirus

@m0xee @dcc @m0xEE @splitshockvirus It says my CD key is not valid when I open up the CD key setting. I think id just cracked the game themselves for digital release lol

@eric
It's just expanded CTF with huge maps that was originally sold as a mission pack, it's okay, but I don't think it was ever popular. In any case, you can use that too with any alternative engine such as ioquake3 or Quake3e, they see the .pk3 files in the "missionpack" subdirectory and allow you to switch to it from the main menu.
@dcc @m0xEE @splitshockvirus

@eric
Not that I know of, but I was never a TF fan β€” I'm pretty sure there were mods in the vein of TF for Q3, but I don't think they were ever as popular as TF for original Quake was, and then Valve's game came along, which was well received by fans, so no one probably bothered implementing it with Quake 3 engine anymore.
@dcc @m0xEE @splitshockvirus

@eric
Yeah, GOG release also comes with a cdkey file, but I think it's the same for everyone. Original Quake 3 servers were supposed to check it, but to my knowledge no server does this check anymore.
