@newt dansup the guy who made pixelfed is now making a tiktok clone. maybe I am the stupid one but I don't think it's gonna work so well without predatory algorithms or with the intense privacy focus of Fedi, but the EU gave him money to develop it so yeah maybe I am
@sun sounds stupid indeed. I've never used tiktok, but i've seen people who do. And they don't exactly shine with intellect.
@newt @m0xee @sun I know people that avoid tiktok because they know they will become addicted. I've never used it myself although I've had people attempt to share content from it. I get the same thing with people sending me links to facebook reels. If it's skydiving related I'll grab it with yt-dlp, otherwise ignore the message.
It's unfortunate people assume you have an account on the mainstream social platforms. When I tell people I don't have a bookface or instagram account they look dumbfounded. I don't mention fedi because most people are too fucking stupid to explain it too and I don't have the time or patience or give a shit anyway.

I was never quite "getting" that strategy — attempting to make you create an account just to see things. Twitter was doing it the right way, at some point I was even thinking of making an account, but discovered Fedi.
What is the point of making an account if you don't even know what you get 🤷
