But for real, if you consider how dense and yet effective the visual storytelling of Skibidi is, overall this kind of media can only impress. Only after watching two minutes of Skibidi you can reckon the backstory of this world, who the sides in this conflict are, what is at stake, etc. Skibidi is arguably better at delivering what it wants than 80% of films made today.

Do you realise that proper storytelling is probably not why it got so hyped, but "being weird"…🤔
However this means that it's modernism dressed in postmodernism's clothing, which takes it on an even higher level 🤓

@m0xee I only learned about it through memes like "my child is afraid to use the toilet".

@newt
It's not about how you learned about it, it's about what you appreciate in it — for you it's classic storytelling and solid plot devices, is it for most others? I'm honestly not sure 😅

@m0xee it's the same for them. Look, we have style and we have substance. The style of :skibidi: is obvious but it can only serve as the initial attraction. Most people value substance, even if they aren't consciously aware of it.

@newt
How did we arrive in the era of postmodernism then?
I'm not even sure about myself — it took me over a decade to find out why Joyce is considered modernist, considering the whole language as medium thing. It took a great deal of explanation that beside that Ulysses actually has a very solid plot and follows many well-established storytelling techniques, does it quite masterfully.

@newt
It's certainly not what got ME into it — I was born into postmodernism, these things aren't what I'm looking for in a work of art 🤷
