An interesting dialogue between BBC Steve Rosenberg and #Putin on the #BRICS summit. Rosenberg asked Putin about his contradictory description of the “special military operation” as conducted with the intention to increase #Russia “security and stability”:

Rosenberg: Before the war started, there were no drone attacks on Russian territory, no shelling of Russian cities, and no foreign troops occupying Russian territory.

To which Putin answers with a long speech about “expansion of NATO”, “coups” etc but then he finally answers the question:

You said drone strikes. Yeah, that didn’t happen. But there was a much worse situation. The situation was that our constant and persistent proposals to establish contacts with the countries of the Western world were always being pointed out to us. (…) So everything seemed to be friendly, but we were always shown our place.

Which sounds insane, in literal sense, granted that the cost of 600’000 casualties Russia has paid by now for the privilege of “not being shown their place”.

Full video from the dialogue can be found on BBC website, but I do not repost it because its content is mostly occupied by Putin’s lengthy list of nonsense about NATO and coups, which are equally false as they are irrelevant:

I've seen this statement of his as a headline on The Moscow Times and it didn't make any sense to me… I have to admit that in the expanded form it makes even less sense 🤦

@m0xee It makes even yet less sense when you listen to the whole Putin’s speech, even if it sounds impossible 😂

@kravietz
Yeah, I'm afraid I'm not up to a side dish of NATO at the gate and coups, I'm full 🤢
Interviewing him is no small feat — listening to a mere minute of his speech is already a challenge and in long form interviews he can go on about irrelevant things for literal hours… But as direct answer — if at all present, doesn't make sense, journalists attempt to make some sense out of this… noise!

@kravietz
NATO is no longer at the gate — they are already here: zona.media/news/2024/10/29/sol
OMG, this is so funny — they have even hired someone who was in the military to consult them and this is the result! 🤣
Sadly, no English translation yet.
