if someone sends you a voice message via messenger, just ignore it and when they ask "did you see my message", just pretend it did not arrive. they will write whatever they wanted to say

i have a dedicated script that checks my telegram for incoming voice message DMs and immediately deletes them upon arrival.
they see it. they know it. and everyone already understands.

Ha-ha-ha! All my friends know that to listen to their voice message, first I have to switch the amp to a different input and as I'm probably listening to some music (I most often do), I have zero incentive to do that. So they know that it might take me hours and even days to do that and if they want a more prompt response, they have to use text or call me.
Never had to pretend either.
