@m0xee @splitshockvirus @tadano I keep coming back to this thread, hoping it's been answered.

I think it's a me me (internet image thing) of that one comic book show thing that normies like on amazon.

@p @tadano @m0xee I don't know the name because I'm not a fucking nerd that's watches slop unless it's owned by bandai scamco.

@splitshockvirus @tadano @m0xee Oh, that one is in a lot of me-mes. I tried to watch it, but it turns out it is terrible.

@p @splitshockvirus @tadano
Yeah, it hits you right between the eyes with all the usual "woke" arsenal — too much even to my tastes. But the story itself isn't terrible — has a couple of good plot turns, I could even finish the first season, not sure I'm ever up for the second one though 😅

@m0xee @splitshockvirus @tadano Oh, it wasn't even the woke shit that bothered me, it was the entire premise. I think I did two episodes but it might have just been one.

@p @splitshockvirus @tadano
Ha-ha-ha, first of all, we aren't really the target age group for this show 😂 I think it's genuinely for teenagers: putting the protagonist in certain situations to convey the message: "Life is hard and shit…" Then, exploiting the abusive parent as plot device is getting so old — sure, that is relatable for a lot of people, but it's just sickening at this point. And this makes the main plot too predictable.

@p @splitshockvirus @tadano
But some of the side characters and their plot lines are good. Even the "woke" stuff isn't so straightforward, e.g. poor black guy ultimately turns out a real bastard, not worth sacrificing your life for — even though "he does it for the family", which is quite unusual TBH, because in your average show "doing it for the kid" buys you immediate indulgence for all the worst shit you can possibly do.

@p @splitshockvirus @tadano
"But you're not a parent, you don't understand" doesn't work here — because the actions of this character are understandable and completely justified, but others — why do they prefer sticking around even though it's obvious they can trust them anymore as the baddies have his/her kid, even after putting the whole group in danger numerous times.

@p @splitshockvirus @tadano
This immediately makes all other characters unrelatable to me: any sane person, especially adult one, would immediately say: "Fuck this shit, I'm out!"— and be done with it.
But in any case, there is nothing particularly standing out about this show, if you didn't like it — nothing of value was lost.

@m0xee @p @splitshockvirus I've never seen nor read Invincible just think Omni-man is cool and funny :gigachad:

> I think it's genuinely for teenagers:

The Goonies is a movie for children but I enjoyed it.

> sure, that is relatable for a lot of people, but it's just sickening at this point.

I think a teenager can actually process a moral quandary. "Good guys good, bad guys bad" is a sign of an author with contempt for the audience.
