Assuming that they have "their people" and treating it as "us versus them" situation is one of the biggest mistakes one can make, were this army given free reign on Russian territory, I'm afraid they'd be doing all the same — and they often do, those who manage to survive long enough to return, I suppose few of these cases make it into international press. And this doesn't have to be about war, the state doesn't care about the civilians — look at how they handle the emergencies!

Floods, fires — people are left to their own devices quite often!
So it's hard to say whether they even treat Russians as their own: shooting down a projectile over densely populated area of the city to prevent it from reaching military objects — no problem! I think this army and law enforcement act as occupational on Russian territories same as they do on Ukrainian ones 🤷

Those in the army often do not belong to the region they are in, some come directly from prison — and they are given firearms and freedoms they have never had before, is it surprising that some of them turn into animals barely having any humane qualities?
