Sudzha. Situation.
I was just in the center, basically. Everything is more or less intact. The prosecutor's office is fucked up. The city administration has the ukrop flag… the Ukrainian flag hanging.
Lots of military, equipment. I thought about taking a photo. He, basically, called me over. The soldier checked my documents, wasn't rude or anything. Said it’s not allowed to take pictures.
I asked what are we supposed to do now, what’s going to happen. He, sorta, said, what can you do, learn the Ukrainian anthem and get ready for a referendum. Heh, what a clusterfuck.
To be honest, I don't give a fuck anymore under which flag to live, as long as it's peaceful. If our own can't protect us, maybe at least the Ukrainians will manage to.

"Ukrop^W Ukrainian flag" 🤣
If not a PsyOp, it's both entertaining and insightful.
I'm not the proponent of calling everything a PsyOp, but the whole incursion into Kursk only makes sense in this context, not in the traditional military sense. Even according to the ISW, the Kremlin is shooting itself in the foot by both overblowing the what's happening internationally to blame Ukraine and downplaying it domestically to prevent panic — they might lose the trust of people.

@m0xee I mean what war makes sense in an exclusively military sense? There's always a political aspect. I don't know the true goal of this operation but so far it seems like it can be a good leverage in the upcoming peace negotiations. Panic, fear, and growing dissatisfaction with the government is a nice bonus, too.
This is the most chill, even humorous video from the region. Other are less so.

No, I mean tactics-wise — there might be some targets and they might've been lacking range for suppressive fire so they had to cross the border, but even Western think-tanks seem clueless as to what that might be.
More likely this operation is either an attempt to divert forces from other fronts — or indeed, to sow dissent and cause the panic to disrupt the military operations in the adjacent regions 🤷
Either way — only time will tell.
> Other are less so.
Yes, sadly…

@m0xee One idea floated on the internet was that the whole thing is just to catch Putin with his pants down and show the allies, USA specifically, that for all the talk Russia can't do anything. There's no reason to fear it. Basically, there's not much space left for further escalation so USA can finally let Ukraine use long-range munition to destroy Russian aviation and ammo depots.

Interesting theory!
I'd say the timing is a bit odd. Now, having F-16s it might've made sense to weaken Russian airforce first, making ground forces less vulnerable during such a raid. But as I don't have all the information, something else might've contributed to choosing this moment. In any case, it's a bold move.
I hope there won't be many civilian casualties — the officials are of course claiming they are evacuating people, but according to other sources it's all bullshit 😩
