IDGAF NIGGER

you're buying a thousand dollar device that is irreparable. It's the stupidest most niggerest financial decision people make every day.
@Pawlicker @Hyperhidrosis
Not a choice if you aren't a weirdo/ludite, how many of those phones can mobile games?
@Pawlicker @Hyperhidrosis can't even find a retailer online :0171:
But sure I take the L, guess there's options if you look hard enough..
@McMongoose @Pawlicker these phones are ancient.
The market has been moving away from repairability since the day it was born.
@Hyperhidrosis @Pawlicker
Originally I was gonna get an "old phone" but even the old bottom of the line phones are anti repair. Anything that's repairable has been isolated from the market
@McMongoose @Pawlicker that's because it's 2024

the old phones are from 2017 when this entire anti repair design language was in full force.
@Hyperhidrosis @McMongoose @Pawlicker The Fairphone looks rather repairable. But personally I just went the other route: buy under 100e Motorola phones and don't worry about ever repairing them. Just thrash and buy a new one when needed.

Except this damn G Power 2020 phone is still going strong and I have no need to buy anything new.
@Hyperhidrosis @McMongoose @Pawlicker @susie Fairphones is the only brand you should be buying. Everything else is made by a manufacturer that HATES YOU

Don't they come with a dongle included though? I'm not sure how it works though, if it uses some special wiring or if it's a tiny USB DAC.

@Forestofenchantment @McMongoose @Pawlicker @Hyperhidrosis @m0xee Sounds like Fairphone sucks too then. Meh, I recommend just buying cheap under 100e phones then and just binning them when the battery eventually goes bad. At least Motorola still has headphone jacks on cheap models.

I despise the slim trend in portable electronics. Give me chunky and lots of ports instead!

@susie
There are models that have huge batteries, I'm pretty sure some even have replaceable ones — problem is, they are usually niche and there is no community to make good custom ROMs for you, some might not even have unlockable bootloaders.
And for me having to use stock ROM is a greater deal breaker than non-replaceable battery or having to use dongle for headphones.
