I need a replacement dog. Gotta be too big for the wife to keep it in the bed at night, but it can't be a husky or anything along those lines, because it's kinda too hot for those to live outside here in Italy. Suggestions?

I've never owned one, but they look funky and they seem to fit the bill: they are neither too big, nor small enough to cuddle with.
