#Germany agreed a plan to subsidise 10 GW in new fossil gas power plants whose sole purpose is to “close gaps in wind and solar energy supply”. To make this climate embarrassment a bit sweeter, they are being advertised as “hydrogen-ready” which means for the next decade they will be burning fossil gas (~500 gCO2eq/kWh) with an option to switch to #hydrogen when - and if - the remaining infrastructure is ready. Note that no new coal and gas power plants would be necessary if Germany did not decide to early shut down its fleet of #nuclear power plants (5.6 gCO2eq/kWh).

Who knew that getting natural gas from oh so friendly Vladimir would become a liability so soon 😉
