@eal @quad my previous MoBo conveniently forgot every UEFI boot entry except windows if you powered it up with disks detached, it would NOT bring them back if you re-attach the disks later.

Isn't it relatively easy to restore them though. I think it's just an ordered array of descriptors of where to look for bootloaders 🤔

Ha-ha, yes it is! All EFI-capable machines I have are Macs and they have a handy boot selector that looks for .EFI-files on all attached media and which you can fire up holding Option/Alt at boot.
It breaks the linux's suspend/resume from disk though: you have to use the exact same entry system was originally booted for resume to succeed — that's a bit annoying too, I've lost the saved state a couple of times this way 😩
