I know that my washing machine can be diagnosed by playing some tones to it, but it has to be explicitly enabled by pressing three buttons at the same time and if that were my gas stove or anything having to do with fire, I'd probably be terrified 😱

@m0xee @lain I think it's an American thing, the gas stove in our old flat certainly didn't have anything like this, and grandma's one doesn't either. There's just a valve you can turn off. It isn't even connected to power at all.

Yeah, true — probably some American thing. Mine does have some smart functions like timer, but I've never used it — not sure it even works. It has a failsafe that shuts off the gas to the cooktops and to the oven when there is no flame, but it also has a regular valve and nothing like that DTMF shit — probably was done with the best of intent e.g to prevent kids from messing with it — I doubt they could figure out playing tones to it with a phone, but still sounds scary 🤭
