After accident with Zaluzhny deputy who died after triggering a hand grenade which he believed was a dummy, #Russia channels started distributing a deepfake video of #Ukraine Zaluzhny allegedly calling this an assassination and announcing a state coup against Zelensky. Such deepfake videos were distributed in the past already e.g. with Zelensky but never gained much traction — it seems like in case of such outrageous claims most people somehow disciplined themselves to go and double check. Sad we don't do the same with equally outrageous COVID19 claims etc.

As for COVID, I don't think that videos of Bill Gates talking about pandemic 5 years ago made a difference, it were vaccines themselves — do they stop the spread? Do they work at all and if not why are they mandatory? This ruined the public trust, no wonder some turned to conspiracies for answers.
I mean, sure there were those talking about microchips and 5G towers from the get go, but those are just urban madmen, I think there are relatively few of them.
