Is it only me who finds this funny? Why would I want to control lights away from home, to give my cats a scare? 🤪
I mean, you might have cameras installed which might be not infrared and in this case you might want to control lights too, but it seems to me to be a very narrow corner case.

@m0xee @fribbledom when on vacation having lights turning on and off gives the impression you are home which may dissuade burglars. I have used timers in the past for this purpose.

I've seen wall switches with such a mode decades ago: it just turned the lights on once in a few hours for random period of time. Neat trick, but I think they are aware of this already and if they have spotters, those probably pay more attention to actual people coming and going than lights, and if they are amateurs — it probably won't stop them anyway 😄

@m0xee @fribbledom yeah RadioShack actually sold a bunch of home automation stuff like that named x10 iirc. It won't fool people for long but if you are gone less than a week it may be good enough.
