usually, someone of my age doesn't apply for jobs. he is headhunted or promoted, and may pick among offers.
i'm not in that situation, but i'm still the age i am, and see through a lot of the stuff i was told when i was younger. i'm not working my ass off to beg for jobs.

I think it is one of those things our parents told us "You'll understand when you're older" — and that never really happened.
I know a lot of people who are in their late 30ies and early 40ies who aren't good for nothings and who still do that kind of stuff themselves. But it probably depends on unempoyment rate in your region 🤷
