A group of Russian students waves Wagner flags and sings nationalist songs during the graduation party in Moscow this weekend. Funnily enough, siding with Wagner is now also a protest, since state media have started a propaganda campaign against Putin's former private army.
In a theoretically possible civil war scenario in Russia, it's highly unlikely that we'll see liberals warring against authoritarians. If this comes to pass, it's more likely that various authoritarian groups will fight each other (just like the civil war a hundred years ago).
@polidemitolog In no possible outcome it will be about liberal democracy — we can safely forget about that for at least another decade, Navalny and all that. Life will get even worse in Russia.
I don't believe that the "hot" stage of this civil war will last long — people are tired of war already, they aren't up to that. I think it will get divided into smaller states — all authoritarian of course.
@polidemitolog Those who will come to power will be with their own militias, some of those we have now, some ex cops/FSB, even criminals. It might lead to some small-scale military conflicts, expecially in the region around Caucasus. With time, it will settle down and some of those might become suitable for normal life, like Eastern European countries today, might even become democratic in true sense. It will be harsh, but at least, it'll never be this Superpower or Own Path bullshit ever again.
