activism makes people sympathetic with your cause, not make people want to punch you in the face for acting like a massive fucking spoiled trust fund nepotism retard on the way to work

@jeff Spot on! It looks like a lot of people aren't trying to have your sympathy anymore, but do their best being as annoying as possible so you can agree with them only for them to fuck off 🤣

@m0xee that isnt activism, that's being a dipshit who engages in social sabotage on behalf of the corpos

@jeff My exact words! Some refuse to believe because the declared goal of such "activists" is good, and it often really is — it's just what they do doesn't make them (or anyone) closer to that goal.
> sabotage on behalf of the corpos
More often on behalf of their own stupidity — corpos indeed benefit from what these people do, but most aren't even getting paid for that, they are just being played.

@jeff You're probably talking about some "eco-activism", but it works the same way for everything: fighting for women's rights isn't hating men, fighting for black rights is not hating white. It doesn't do anyone any good, it only atomizes the society and everyone loses except for those in power and corpos.

@m0xee no. all activism is state sponsored, if your movement isn't it will be shortly. that is how the war machine operates.

the solution here on that is front is currently not explored at all.

@jeff
> all activism is state sponsored
Correct, but this wasn't my point. Not everyone is being paid directly to do stupid shit — that's just not cost effective. Paying to those who can convince a lot of people to do stupid shit — now we're playing!
A lot of people are deceived into believing total garbage: okay, what I do might look like stupid shit — but I'm doing it for a good cause, I'm a good person, right?
No, you are not — just take a step back and look at that, it's still stupid shit🤷‍♀️

@jeff You're right though, the solution is not even being explored. The concept of having a clear enemy is so easy to grasp that everyone uses it to sway people — and people are just getting caught in the moment, bashing some other group that often has zero to do with their problems. Shit — even I get caught into that sometimes. Always asking yourself "Does this really make my life any better?" is hard and the answer is often unpleasant, so most just don't do that.

@jeff Sorry, I have probably digressed from your original thought — it's just another thread I'm partaking in and I'm lumping several problems together without realizing it 😅

@m0xee not everyone is paid to do activism and the ones that are work for their employer who has a perverse financial in keeping the problem alive.
@m0xee @jeff yeah most people participating in activism are probably unaware of the source of their power. But the fact that you can buy or coerce a handful of people to derail an otherwise potentially noble cause makes participation unappealing regardless of the stated intentions of a movement.
@thatguyoverthere @m0xee they aren't paid to think, they are paid to act, they are activists after all.
@Owl @thatguyoverthere @m0xee you ever wonder why all those activists are from families of actors and politicians? well that may be related.
@Owl @m0xee @thatguyoverthere also, the verb here is not acting, it's doing actions.
