@djsumdog @RustyCrab @zero I know it is the most popular release, but still, Windows XP. Windows 2000 was a huge improvement, felt like easier to use NT, XP felt like a watered-down 2000.
A few remember it now, but when it came out is was a security nightmare — UPnP remote exploit was a total disaster, nowadays that won't be a problem, but at the time no one was installing updates in timely fashion — that is why the worms that came later were so dangerous.
@djsumdog @RustyCrab @zero Vista was just rushed, when they polished it and released as Windows 7 everyone liked that.
And Windows 8 is IMO the best Windows. Fullscreen apps and Start might seem unappealing to seasoned Windows users, but not to newcomers. I've always hated Start, but this was different — full screen launcher with huge colorful squares, easily distinguishable. The typography was top notch too. Release preview was even better — it didn't have even the corner hint of Start 😂
