#Russia disinformation — and media competition — in one example.
An
#Ukraine channel on TikTok
https://www.tiktok.com/@_viktorovich_07_ posts a video of UAV dropping grenades on Russian abandoned BMP.
This video is then picked up by Russian Telegram channel Gruz400, who adds their watermark and describes the video as "Russian drone finishing Ukrainian BMP".
The video is then picked up by Russian "Anna News" agency.
Gruz400 posts "OMG thank you" to raise his prestige.
Meanwhile, Russian Moscow Calling channel posts the original video. Gruz400 accuses him of being "traitor", "gay" and all the usual slurs.
Moscow Calling then posts the original source (TikTok) that predates Gruz400 and has no watermark, commenting "case closed".
Telegram is a very competitive dog-eat-dog environment and large channels can be quite profitable, so plenty of channels engage in stealing content and posting bullshit in order to attract audience 🤷♂️
@kravietz @nf3xn BTW Anna News is probably a solid propaganda outlet without a speck of independence, I remember it being used even in 2014 during the previous round of this war when this "war correspondent" business wasn't this diversified. Probably even before that, but I wasn't looking.
