Konstantin deconstructs the "Russian economy is doing great" story:
@useless_idiot It's already worse than that. This one looks like the first sign of incoming regional defaults.
@m0xee @useless_idiot
Could the prospect of the collapse of Soviet Union 2.0 be lurking at the regime mugshots?
@PawelK @useless_idiot Russia's economy is in decline since 2013, but "Crimea effect" somehow justified the lowering standards of living for the masses. It didn't make the news, but COVID was a serious blow too. Putin wanted to pull off this trick again: quick and victorious war. Focus shifted to Ukraine now, but there was an attempted Kazakhstan incursion just a couple of months before that.
@PawelK @useless_idiot The collapse is imminent, but the question is how many more have to die before it happens and what happens next.
@useless_idiot
I'm not sure how trustworthy Fox News' sources are, but it's definitely not the first time I stumble upon such rumours.
@PawelK
@m0xee @useless_idiot
Its already there, at least some of it.
@PawelK @useless_idiot π¨π³ quickly showed Putin the door so he had to go for πΊπ¦. I think he was reluctant to do that from the very beginning, but the resistance he got even surpassed his expectations. And of course he didn't expect oil and gas sanctions to be that serious. He got the justification for economic hardships he wanted, but he miscalculated and the war only accelerated the economy spiraling down.
