@gemlog
Well, enjoy! 😂
But please don't pick sides. People in the West (especially the Left) tend to think that if US is bad, supporting the other side is the right thing and start supporting all sorts of dictators and regimes which are also bad for the people.
US (and collectively Westesn) establishment is responsible for a lot of bad things, but not in a straightforward way. They like guys like Putin — he sells cheap gas and isn't afraid of anything. They enjoy the cheap oil/gas and are happy to sell surveillance, policing, even military equipment to such fellas. What do people get of it? Right — surveillance and policing. And literally pennies from all that oil and gas.
Then the dictator gets rid of his internal enemies, cements his power and starts using anti-western "sovereignty" rhetoric. Western politicians realize that something went wrong: wow, how could that happen? Sometimes they try to fix it to be the good guys, but it's often late and people still lose.
And as we can see, that doesn't work well with a nuclear power — they can't do shit now, at least not directly. They can only support the ones who are brave enough to do it.
I don't believe US overthrows governments directly though because… TP AJAX is there, out in the open, here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1953_Iranian_coup_d'état
Such things spiral out of control easily and really fast. To the point that it gets extremely hard to fix. That is why I don't believe they engage in such activities since then.
And I don't get blaming US for everything. Yugoslavia? Killing five hundred civilians is horrible — no denying! But it did stop the civil war that went on for over a decade. Many more died before it stopped, and many many more could if it didn't stop.
Iraq? US did its share of shitty things, but saying they destroyed the country is wrong. Was it a prosperous country they destroyed? No, it was a cesspool of a country long before that. Problems kept piling up for years. It's not intervening in the finals stage that we should blame the free world for, but for not intervening and even supporting dictatorships in earlier stages.
