Did work for me! Maybe because I have JavaScript disabled by default, maybe because it's georestricted and I have IP of a region they aren't interested in 🤷

Yeah, same here. I'm not in France, but I'm using an IP-address allocated to France and I can access it. It's not uncommon for media to do that, that is why it's the first thing that came to mind. Maybe they think that Europeans are unlikely to become paid subscribers, but they'll send the link to their US friends who will — something like that 🤷
