@GluedToTheScreen yeah.... I don't know what it is, but kids always yap how anything with c-like syntax should drop dead and somehow it never happens. It's like..... I don't know. They just refuse to C the reality around them 😂

@ThatCrazyDude I looked at ColdFusion but it felt too black-boxy...

... my only regret was around 1998, I was seriously considering taking up Python. I was too lazy.

@GluedToTheScreen i don't do coding for a living for quite some time now, but i must say i don't exactly hate python. I mean, i would never try to write anything high performance for production environment with that stuff, but when it comes to some quick scripting, "batching" tasks and shit like that.... I've seen worse solutions. I still refuse to do indents with spaces though. That's just tarded 😂

Make a vim plugin like autopep8 do it for you 🤷
And yes, Python is great! It's great as a scripting language and it's great for prototyping more serious stuff, I find it odd that it didn't take off as a tool for web development. As for the picture in the opening post, I think Django happened later than Ruby on Rails, Pylons too, but maybe I was too late to the game. Python is still popular as it's being used for machine learning, big data and all that.

"still popular as it's being used for machine learning, big data and all that."

why I wish I had not been lazy and added it to my skill set back then.
