@Moon @antisophon They have characters that are nearly all 'chrome' in the game and the lore. The guy that created the IP is a trip.
@Moon @antisophon Search for "Mike Pondsmith" interviews on Youtube if you're curious. He works a lot of ethnic gang culture, international corpo warfare, and such into his world building. It was originally a pen and paper game.
@Moon @antisophon In order to get an edge on other gangs and no use for laws or ethics some remove all weakness in their desire for conquest on the street. It has the theme of addiction crossing not just drugs but also "enhancements" to the point of rejecting humanity. It's nothing like ghost in the shell.
@thendrix @antisophon @Moon
does that mean like "rather than about robuts being human, it's about humans being robuts"?
@shmibs @antisophon @Moon Yes, it's about destroying your soul, mind. and your body. The theme is interesting given topics in the news and culture today.

In fact there is a "subplot" of used up PMCs going insane while being "military grade" living weapons committing murder sprees. It is later revealed external forces were of course manipulating their minds. Pretty present day.
@thendrix @antisophon @Moon
scared to ask what "topics in the news and culture today" you mean

but that is interesting, though thought it was sort of the default cyberpunk position. like that what was it called, cyberpunk-dnd tabletop thing, adding augments = losing body = soul disappears = you can't use magic or whatever

still prefer gits sac, though; wanna hug friendly ai
@thendrix @Moon @antisophon
("cyberbrain hacked and person used as murder tool" is kinda the gits plot that happens over and over, though
