It is always nice to be reminded that not everybody is OK with nazis and paedophiles being in office

The German govt is rolling our a digital driver's license:

And, from day 1 - in 2026, yes - it only works on OS images allowlisted by two American companies, Google and Apple. Sanctioned by the US government, like e.g. the ICC judges? Can't use your _German_ digital driver's license.

In any sane society this would have been flagged as a massive issue and have simply stopped the app from launching in the first place.

LLMs have put some pressure on software development and that has lead to sort of a victory lap amongst designy/product people: Finally they no longer need devs to fight with.
Just shows the typical "AI" bias: Everyone else's skills are irrelevant, just mine matter. But of course design and product shit is gonna be next. With similarly bad results.

"AI" means everything is fast fashion now: Disposable, crappy, shit for the environment.

The vibe-coded addon problem is getting so bad that Warcraft Logs is changing its API and developers are dealing with theft of their work.

I’ve noticed a really “funny” pattern… some of the best parents I know sometimes would go on about how they are always unsure if they are good parents….. whereas the absolutely worst parents would say / believe that they are the best parents on earth, and how dare you don’t acknowledge that 😆

“Tonight we defeated Goliath. All the money in the world is no match for the people of Texas.”

What makes this win even more satisfying is the sheer amount of cash Elon dropped into the race against James Talarico and he still won in a landslide.

Maybe people are waking up?

Another loss for crypto and AI: Democrat Abdul El-Sayed has beaten Mike Rogers in Michigan’s Senate race. Crypto PACs spent $811,000 backing Rogers and an AI group added just over $1 million. El-Sayed has been an outspoken advocate for strong AI and data center regulation.

It's really notable that none of the worst case nightmare scenarios involving ICE at polling stations, arrested election workers, seized ballots, postal shenanigans, etc. came to pass. And that's due to tireless work by legal advocates for states and NGOs, not to mention independent judges who were willing to stand up to the administration's unlawful excesses.

#Etsy has updated their Terms of Service that forces sellers to allow the use of their photographs and text to train #AI. There is no opt-out.

It seems bonkers to me that Etsy, a website which ostensibly sells human-made creations, is forcing sellers to enable AI to learn from and subsequently copy their own products. I guess they now feel that they have enough market share that people will not leave over this.

I’m reflecting on all the different types of people who won as Democrats tonight. Different genders, different races, different ethnicities, different sexual orientations. Differences in style and, to some degree, in substance. But all recognizably and clearly antifascist, pro-democracy, committed to pluralistic constitutional democracy, rule of law.

That commonality should not be taken for granted. It is the bedrock on which we can build a more just and livable country.
