We noticed that the database was slower to respond to queries the last few days.

This was caused by a specific query that is executed for quota calculation. This query took longer than normal (bad query plan) to get a result. MariaDB spent most of its CPU time on those queries.

We instructed MariaDB to re-analyze the relevant tables; this resulted in MariaDB using a better query plan and giving the expected performance for the query.

This unfortunately caused some not planned downtime.

Stop believing the narrative of despair they want us to take in from "1313 CVEs!" and dig into the actual data, or look for reports from others who have. It's a huge lie.

@siddhesh_p @jschauma They could at least outsource the triage to the reporter.

If they can't even be bothered to explain why they think the bug is a vuln, it shouldn't get a CVE assignment.

If their explanation is technobabble out of the slop extruder, it also shouldn't get an assignment unless someone else is able to determine it warrants one.

@jschauma That isn't an option either. You are just adding more new vulns, and more of them are real vulns not fake ones like the stuff they're reporting.

The "1313 CVEs" are a lie. The hard problem is finding the 10-20 that are actually vulns and the 1-5 that are actually relevant to you.

The only solution is to close off all of the attack surface. Disable module loading entirely or switch to allow list model to block all of the "IPsec shit nobody asked for". Disable io_uring and other optional niche syscalls. Don't give out user accounts, and don't assume running network-facing junk daemons is safe just because they're running as nobody or chrooted. Etc.
