Romanian crust band Livia Sura recently reformed and released two great records in 2026, reworking songs from their earlier years. Guitarist Adi has been one of the most active people in the Timișoara punk scene for the past 30 years, and we had a great conversation about the band, the local scene and politics.

Amazing to see Toxic Grafity zine from late 70s/early 80s publishing online! Wow. There's no new posts since a few years ago but there's a lot to read here about punk, anarchism and more:

And you can find them on Mastodon too (but the profile it's not very active...): @toxicgrafity

@lwriemen People should self host Forgejo if they can, and if they can't then they should use Codeberg.

Microsoft has been losing a lot of money by owning GitHub. At some point there will be a correction. Microsoft Windows is losing user share. XBox is deep in the red.

If you're still ignorant about who owns GitHub and how they've operated in the past, it's time to get informed.

Oof, just deleting all of that data with seemingly no way for some of the affected orgs to get their data back is just horrible.

Microsoft made a quiet change to a popular software grant. Small nonprofits lost everything.

"Executives working on AI at Microsoft and OpenAI admitted what its critics have been saying all along: Large language models are predatory pieces of technology that have been built on what a Microsoft executive called “an astonishing theft of unprecedented proportions,” and the “largest theft of labor in human history.” An internal Microsoft document said generative AI products have created a “doom loop” that is killing “the entire web.”"

Everyone at those companies knows what they are doing. They are destroying our information infrastructure for their own gains and profit. We must not forgive them.

All of this coverage of AI Doomerism making you anxious? It's nonsense and you can go back to your more pressing concerns. If you want to learn more:

I'm currently OBSESSED with @Ultramorbidi's song "No Bro" - I must have already listened to it on loop 10x this morning 😂 🙌

🔗 : ultramorbidi.net/0010/1/

The lyrics are pure fire. Aside from "say no to the tech bro" there is also:

"feminism stands for repair
break the blockchain, breathe the air
they invest but we don't stress
running on our own hardware

con fuerza, resistencia!

the revolution will be decentralized
dancing in the ruins of big tech..."

II created a new list based on @wikidata Information with all Museums in Europe that have a Mastodon Account. In total, there are 59 accounts, with a total of 25,880 toots and a total of 178,903 followers. 🥳🥳🥳

The biggest 5 Accounts are: @auschwitzmuseum, @vagina_museum, @obsoletemediauk, @deutschestechnikmuseum, @muzej

And the newest one is: @MuseeOrsay

You can find the full list here: mastodon-listen.playground.54g

On this, you can also many other lists. They get refreshed every morning.

Also, thanks to @neuSoM for asking directly for this list. This makes it always so much easier to create them. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Another fraud-slop empire thrives -- in part because Google lets it thrive (and profits in the meantime): futurism.com/artificial-intell

The AI panic looks like an orchestrated con: The bosses of these rapacious, sleazy, and infinitely sloppy companies are angling for government permission to be a cartel. This would be followed, as certain as day follows night, by the bailout they all know they'll need when their bubble deflates.

If LLM usage is inevitable, then Bernie Sanders' proposal is a good thing; if LLM usage is a bubble, then the proposal is propping it up with tax payer dollars. mastodon.social/@inthesetimes/

It sounds like Bernie is drinking too much AI kool-aid, but I like rule 3, "AI does not increase electricity or utility prices, harm communities or destroy the environment.", which shpould kill LLM usage as marketed today.

Developing free software to get rich is like being in a punk band to get rich. It probably isn't going to get you to a standard of living above the poverty level, and if it does get you rich, you had to sell out a little.

So why do people do it? That's a real head scratcher, if you're a capitalist.
