"Running Omarchy means contributing to this dynamic. It means willingly integrating oneself into a fascist community. Legitimizing it. Supporting it. Omarchy is a fascist project that normalizes fascist thinking for everyone entering that community"

Supporting fascism, apartheid, and ethnic cleansing is unacceptable, regardless of how you structure that support.
Pete Hegseth’s propaganda push is failing.
No matter how many journalists he bans from the Pentagon, the press is still finding scoops.
But that could change, unless politicians stop supporting crackdowns on leaks and restrictions on the open internet.

I usually save these kinds of rants and essays for print zines, where I don’t have to embarrass myself by reading the comments online. But last weekend, I wrote something, then kept editing and expanding it until it had some structure. Hopefully, it turned into something constructive.

the only reason to join the omarchy trust is to signal new political allegiance.
it is, simply, a vice signal.

At my kid's school parents' assembly this week, I spoke out against the uncritical use of generative AI in the classroom. Another parent disagreed and said that it's "important to point out the positive aspects" of the new technology for the workplace, "as an example, I don't have to pay that expensive graphics designer anymore to do my job."
Part of why I keep coming back to "AI doesn't cause problems, it dramatically accelerates and exacerbates them" as a framing is that the slopbros working so hard to push AI products are, above all, capitalist accelerationists. It helps to look for where things already went wrong, where capitalism already ate our lunches before AI came along.
It is exhausting to work in an industry where it is considered normal to throw out your entire toolset every six years and do everything the opposite way
@aburka @neatnik I tell people who bring Omarchy up enthusiastically about DHH's fascism and about how bad the code is.
So far even two very AI pilled individuals (one fight at the time) are horrified enough to either say they won't check it out anymore or to stop bringing it up.
But it's worrying how being aligned on vibe coding makes these people enthusiastically extol this shiny new thing without the most rudimentary background check - another example of AI addiction eroding critical thinking, or increaaing people's impatience I guess
I worry that some people aren’t taking Omarchy seriously enough. It’s not just another Linux distro. It’s a well-orchestrated campaign to centralize power and influence within the Linux FOSS ecosystem. And it’s working.
Anyone paying attention to DHH and what he stands for can see what’s going on here. When the guy who thinks that brown people don’t belong in society hires the guy who thinks trans people shouldn’t exist, you can see where this is going.
It’s hard to convey the scale and scope of how cooked a generation of people are by LLM slop.
“You can use AI to improve efficiency but make sure you double-check all its output to make sure it isn’t just hallucinating bullshit” thanks that’s actually more work and thus less efficient than not using an LLM at all.
“You have to double-check LLM output, but also if the task is too complicated or complex to figure out on your own, you should use an LLM” thanks but if it’s too complicated to figure out on your own, then you can’t double-check the output.
Just absolutely cooked.
