i have been writing a graph processing library for about a year now and if i was a fucking AI grifter here is where i would plug it as like "actually a graph processor library" and "could do all of what claude code does without fucking being the worst nightmare on ice money can buy."

I say that not as self promo, but as a way of saying how in the FUCK do you FUCK UP graph processing this badly. these people make like tens of times more money than i do but their work is just tamping down a volley of dessicated backpacking poops into muskets and then free firing it into the fucking economy

Probably all of us at first tried to reason with conspiracy theorists, and, of course, it didn't work. Then we learned that they react emotionally, and conspiracy theories are designed to provoke strong emotional reactions. What if you believed that satanic cults molesting children existed, would you not try to free those children?

Later it was demonstrated that the far right, and most of the "moderate" right also don't care about the facts, and I've even read (and boosted) an article about that being the reason they use machine generated images and videos (the other reason being that those generators are biased because of outdated racist sexist training sets).

I had a passing thought: "Now that Claude Code was leaked,, are the proponents of LLM generated code going to feel stupid?" The code is still there, you just need to go a few commits back to see it.

And no, they are not. If anything, they are going to double down on propaganda, because it has always been emotional. It is like women who post about their husbands' abusive behaviour, and, when advised to leave, posting a response "He is a really great husband, you don't know him like I do!" Intermittent reinforcement is both how abusive partners and slot machines work.

Anthropic's Claude Code's full source code leaked. Claude is seen by many to be the best coding LLM on the market with Anthropic proudly stating that Claude Code itself is mostly written by the LLM.

Now this sounds good as long as nobody can see the code which is quite the trash fire. Detecting "code sentiment" via regular expressions, variable and functions names containing prompt parts trying to influence the bot, a completely intransparent mess of a control flow that makes actual maintenance and debugging functionally impossible and the prompts ... of the prompts. All the begging and pleading to the chatbot not to do this or not to do that or please to do this.

It is fascinating but it is as far away from actual engineering as drunkenly pissing your name in the snow. Dunno what you call the people prompting software at Anthropic but "engineer" is not it.

Now it is fun to look at the currently hyped product striped bare and showing its pathetic quality but that is the future of software if we let those companies continue to undermine every good practice software engineering has tried establishing.

The software we have to use will be bad, insecure, unmaintainable, expensive with nobody having the skills or resources to build something better. As I wrote a few months ago: LLM based software production is equivalent to saying that fast fashion should be the only way to produce clothing. A tragic degeneration of the quality of the artefacts we rely on build for maximum profit on the backs of people in countries from the global majority.

Is the democratic party afraid to say 'no oligarchs' instead of 'no kings' bc so many of the donors paying their leadership and consultants oligarchs?
