It’s New Years Eve and that means a predictable glut of articles about “How to save money this year” with dumbass tips such as “Get those birthday freebies most restaurants give out” and “Declutter: make money from your unused junk.”

Hey, I’ve got an idea… how about we TAX BILLIONAIRES OUT OF EXISTENCE! They and their children could never spend their hoarded wealth in multiple lifetimes even if they tried!

With that money we could *easily* feed the hungry, house the homeless, provide universal healthcare, free college education, and free childcare.

A better society is possible, but not while billionaires exist.

The biggest thing that radicalized me (besides climate change inaction + covid) was honestly going to business school and having economics professors — very much devoted capitalists themselves — look you in the eyes and tell you capitalism requires someone to be exploited to function, whether that’s a group of people, animals, the environment, or whatever. JFK's niece thanked him for doing so. Of course, the Trump-controlled board now wants their domain name and threatened legal action. His response is brilliant.

Looking back at 2025 I can't help but feel an immense sense of gratitude towards the fediverse.

I found so many friends and lovely communities on here. I feel part of a rebel alliance, working towards the goal of creating a better internet - and resisting broligarchs.

Exactly one year ago, on 30th December 2024, I laid the foundation of FediMeteo.

I took a VM, installed FreeBSD, and set up the first jail to support Italy. The goal was to create a tool for my own use, support a few countries, and announce it.

Unexpectedly, the enthusiasm was incredible. That pushed me to keep going, support more countries and cities, and turn it into what it is today.

FediMeteo now supports 38 countries and 2,937 cities, with more than 7,700 followers in the Fediverse alone, not counting the many people who follow via RSS feeds or visit the web pages.
