If you want a rigorous analysis of why statistical #AI models collapse when continuously trained on their own data without external supervision and constraints, read this amazing paper from last year.
If you want to get a visual intuition of how model collapse looks like, look at this video.
When AI stares at its own reflection for too long, and its inference is purely rooted on statistics rather than reasoning, this becomes statistically inevitable.
Keep this in mind whenever you hear someone talking about “AI models learning from their own outputs” without addressing the statistical parrot issue.
Now imagine believing that you're sharing your private fantasies with a bot that cannot judge or remember. Just that, on the other side, is a man in a one-room home in Nairobi, pretending to be an AI companion.
That man is Michael, and this is his story: https://data-workers.org/michael/
@lightweight @neil There's a lot of weird, outdated information on running your own mail server out there. Horror stories about IP reputation, blocklists. In my experience, (big) mail providers have long switched away from simple net blocks and do honour correct SPF/DKIM configs. it actually has become better to Roll And Run Your Own in the past 7 years. based on my experience. Enough for me to do a (nerdy) blog series on HowTo, starting at https://jan.wildeboer.net/2022/08/Email-0-The-Journey-2022/ a few years ago.
@jwildeboer I agree with you that there's a lot of bad information out there for sure. My personal experience (running mailservers for almost 20 years) is that big providers absolutely do not honour correct SPF/DKIM/DMARC/rDNS – Google and Microsoft especially – and their "postmaster" tools are materially worse than the cowboy blocklist era, especially in terms of silently filing mails as "spam" for no clear reason (and with no notification).

NYT reports that the TSA is giving ICE a list of every person who's to be taking a domestic flight inside the US so ICE can run it through their database looking for targets.
