RE: cyberplace.social/@GossiTheDog

There are two really interesting data points in that article.
1) execs are far more excited about AI than all other workers and are using AI more than anyone else
2) mediocre performers feel much higher benefit from AI while top performers find it more of a problem than a help

I'll leave the conclusion as an exercise for the reader ...

@GossiTheDog

I’m sure this won’t have any negative consequences in 5 to 10 years.

Too bad that it hasn’t been updated after 2010. I’d love to see his take on Rust and Go.

Thank you, Dr. Morale. 😡

“Jeff Sharlet, a leading scholar of Christian nationalism and author of The Undertow: Scenes from a Slow Civil War, has described Pete Hegseth as a clear, self-identified Christian nationalist whose ideology is explicitly militarized and apocalyptic, not just culturally conservative. Sharlet emphasizes that Hegseth’s own writings and symbols reveal a project of holy war within the United States, not merely a defense of traditional values.” - Constitutional Crisis Alert

Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Marco Rubio gave orders leading to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of human beings, most of them children. These three "leaders" killed USAID, and in the process ordered those deaths.

A crime against humanity, IMO.

According to Reuters, over 600 Americans were fired, suspended or investigated over social media posts about Charlie Kirk.

That’s not including the immigrants who had their visas revoked and were deported.

There’s no free speech anymore.

Which is why we all need to keep speaking up.

They can’t punish everyone.

Mike Davis, former member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told Gabby Giffords to f*ck off because she said gun violence cut Sarah Beckstrom’s life short.

He then called her husband Mark Kelly a “piece of sh*t”

This is MAGA.

Gabby was shot in the head in an act of political violence

Her husband retired from military service to care for her

She’s an advocate for gun control and Senator Kelly is a hero for reminding troops to disobey illegal orders

Mike is a despicable coward for speaking to them this way

They’re offering free beer if you turn in your immigrant friends and neighbours.

There’s been a mass shooting at a kids party in Stockton, California.

4 are dead and at least ten are wounded.

School shootings. Birthday party shootings. Christmas tree lighting shootings.

It doesn’t have to be this way. This isn’t normal.

The problem is the guns.

Your worth is not determined by your job, your bank account or your ability to produce for capitalism.

Disabled people have worth.

Children have worth.

The elderly have worth.

The homeless have worth.

Those in power want you to de-value others so you will accept atrocities.

As soon as you’re willing to label a certain group of people expendable, the fascists win.

When you decide that social supports aren’t necessary, the billionaires win.

When you demand to pay less taxes even if it causes intense suffering? The 1% wins.

Microsoft is increasingly shrill in its desperation to get people to love it's 'AI' service, 'Copilot'... windowslatest.com/2025/11/28/y As Microsoft famously does, making up 'grassroots clamour' that suits its strategic agenda... How pathetic. Apparently *no one* wants this. (I've never seen it first hand, as I'd never let any Microsoft software on my hardware)

I was going to put all the links, but you can find them here: terikanefield.com/musing-about

“Teri, why are you giving away your book for free?”

“Because I’m a rebel. It’s easy to make money in this new information revolution, but, for reasons I explain in the later sections of the book, the pursuit of profit too often leads to click-baity, rage-inducing, bias-confirming content. Repairing the public sphere requires an open exchange of ideas. People shouldn’t have to buy a ticket.”

It’s finished. It’s also not finished because, in the words of Paul Valéry, a piece of writing is never finished. Ultimately it is abandoned.

That’s because writing is thinking, and we’re never finished with that.

Anyway, I figured out what to do with that long blog post: Make it a free book. Making it free meant I had to do the publishing work myself because publishers want to make money. They’re funny that way.

It’s also a YouTube series.

You can find the free book . . .

Around a quarter of papers at an AI conference were found to have been written by AI. Additionally, a good portion of the peer reviews were also found to have been done by AI. People at the event are now raising concerns everything was essentially bollocks.

@GuerillaOntologist I guess Nature needs the $3000 publication fee in order to fund their rapid retraction process.

So back in 1944, a German U-Boat Commander named Heinz-Wilhelm Eck did exactly what US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth ordered US military forces to do - kill the survivors of a destroyed boat at sea.

Now, as then, this is considered a War Crime.

In 1945, Commander Eck was tried, found guilty with his own logs condemning him and executed by firing squad by the Allies.

USA, this is where you are now.

Doing literal war crimes every nation condemned the Nazis for.
