If people really want to use the 12-hour clock. Then they really should do it correctly. As ante meridiem means before noon, then midnight can remain 12 am as it is but then the hours should count down towards noon and so 01:00 ought to be 11:00 am, 02:00 ought to be 10:00 and so on until 11:00 being 1 am i.e. 1 hour before noon. In other words, like BC/AD for calendar years (but with a zero!). Then post meridiem makes some sense after that.

This is a cry for help.

Has anybody on Fedi put OpenStack Swift behind an nginx reverse proxy successfully before?

All the docs seem to suggest it should “just work” but I get 401s on preflight checks to upload media through the reverse proxy, and it works fine direct. I’m forwarding the X-Real-IP etc and swift is recognising that.

My next step is to just futz around with the proxy forward headers in the hope that something will help, but I can’t find any docs to actually address this situation. It’s weird.

Also this is a legacy system running an old version from 2014, so that might contribute. The goal is to have the up-to-date nginx RP doing SSL termination so as to change as little as possible of the config in this legacy mess.

FOSDEM will take place in Brussels between 2026-01-31 and 2026-02-01—it is the largest European conference on free and open-source software and the admission is free (as in beer).

Just like last year's FOSDEM, we will be running a stand, exchanging stickers and having delightful conversations. If you find anyone wearing a badge of either project's logo, feel free to say hi. :D
