This entire work day could have been an email.

"Donald Trump claimed the broadcaster had “defrauded the public” and he had an “obligation” to take legal action over the editing of a speech" - theguardian.com/media/live/202 if anyone has defrauded public, it's #trump

The U.S. military is being used inside the United States. There's a lot we don't know about how, why, and under what authorities.

In almost every way at this point, the corrupt Roberts Court -- formerly known as the Supreme Court -- is a policy-enforcement arm of the Trump regime. Latest example:

FFmpeg to Google Fund Us or Stop Sending Bugs: thenewstack.io/ffmpeg-to-googl by @sjvn

The clash between small volunteer-driven, open-source projects, such as FFmpeg & the billion-dollar companies built on their work, which demand rapid security patches, is heating up.

This quote from a 1996 profile of a news reporter-turned-webmaster didn't age well.

"Cold Lazarus depicts a world that has gone entertainment berserk, controlled by gigantic corporations that manipulate a passive population. The Internet is a way out of that I feel, because you have to think when you're on it."

It is dishonest to claim authorship for AI-generated works. This includes vibe coded works.

There's been a lot of pearl-clutching about public grocery stores!

Which is wild, because we have a LOT of experience with public grocery stores in the US. And the folks it serves (US military & military families) stand by it.

Help subMedia cover some of its travel costs for its 2025 European tour. Members of subMedia will be hosting screenings and workshops in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, France and Cataluyna. For local event details, check out sub.media/TransAtlantic-Tour.

It’s been well over a decade since subMedia crossed the Atlantic. A lot has changed since then. There’s been some rather enormous political developments. Not to mention a veritable glut of riots, uprisings and other moments of insurrectionary rupture. And we’ve been busy distilling this high-octane footage into a refined, uncut, revolutionary analysis, ideal for projecting on the walls of finer squats and social spaces.

So we're thrilled to announce that this November and December, as civilization continues to explode in a fiery spectacular shitstorm, the subMedia crew will be once again returning to the European subcontinent - to connect with rad people and organizations; learn about rad spaces and projects; host rad screenings and workshops; and burn that circle-A shit into our host's eye-holes. We’ll be coming equipped with some classics from the vault, and reels from our newest documentary series InterRebellium. And to make things even sweeter, we'll be joined on the first leg of the tour by one of our favourite anarchist rappers, Lee Reed. We don’t get over to Europe often. And fuck knows what things will look like in another 10-15 years. So please spread word. Restock the popcorn. We hope to see you there!

Today we remember the Hay Market martyrs, executed on this day in 1887. Their sacrifice reminds us of the importance of the struggle for workers’ rights and free speech.

Stop telling me about Kagi. I'm not going to use it.

1. They pay Brave, that makes me feel icky for a lot of reasons that you probably already have opinions about (not interested in debating and will not respond).
2. They make a big stink about "no politics", which is a red flag if you ask me (particularly in light of their "humanizing search" claims).
3. Pushing so-called AI nonsense
4. Argued *against* providing mental health resources in response to certain queries.

Hard pass, muting now.

It is an unacceptable state of affairs that giving all of your information, and your kid’s, to a single monopolistic data broker, College Board, is required in order for kids to apply for college and university.

This is an entity that has demonstrated that they aren’t trustworthy, and has harmed millions of young people.

Health insurance premiums are going through the roof, so try these alternatives. gocomics.com/brian-mcfadden/20

Can I be real with y’all for a minute? I hate the term “content” as applied to art, culture, etc, created online. It feels like the term itself is used to create in our minds the prejudice that A) delivery of content must be separate, and B) that the artist shouldn’t bother with how delivery occurs.

It feels to me like the term is meant to hide the centralization of control by monopolists and robber-barons while the works of art, culture, and innovation are beholden to the delivery providers like YouTube, TikTok, and Meta.

In my new article "The rebellion will be federated – 2025 edition" I discuss the key role of the Fediverse in this political and cultural climate... and argue that digital sovereignty and the ability to self-host are now more important than ever:

Plus I had a chance to look back at my Fediverse advocacy in 2025 😊

Psst: my Ghost blog is now federated thanks to @jannis and his amazing @hey 🥳 🪄 📄
