The government is putting ORMs in the code so that people don't learn how to write SQL, WAKE UP SHEEPLE

@lightweight @RichardJMurphy

Official transcript for those who prefer to just read / or are somewhere where they can't watch with sound right now (I.e. me right now)

The point that really drove it home was: "They don't want to actually *cure* the disease"

Yep... actually solving problems - comprehensively solving them - is apparently not something the world at large seems to support a lot of the time...

Meta pirated and seeded porn for years to train AI, lawsuit says

Meta may have seeded porn to minors while hiding piracy for AI training.

Wow 🍿

If you thought going to a Pride event or drag show was just another night out, think again. If you were in Florida, it might land your name in a government database. eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/you-

That doesn't sound right?

The paper describes the campsite as being surrounded by hazelnut forest. Hazelnuts are 50% fat. Melting down bones was NOT "the only way to get enough fat to live."

The campfires had hazelnut (oily) & acorn (carbs) shells in them. Lots of high-carb cattails & wild grains too.

Heck they were actively & successfully managing the landscape for food. Including carbs & fats to balance out game.

Fish & meat? Gotta smoke 'em.

Acorns? Pound them into powder, put them in a bag, & leach in a river for weeks or months so they're edible.

Maple sap? Boil it down into shelf-stable sugar cakes.

Rendering fat from bones is 100% in line with this.

Bill C-2 lets Canadian cops demand users' info without a warrant—and it paves the way for that info to go to U.S. government agencies. eff.org/deeplinks/2025/07/cana

#Infosec question:

When receiving an incoming link with a referral header from a Mastodon instance with 470 users, how easy is it to determine exactly which individual clicked on the link?

What additional information is needed? How hard is it to get that additional information?

Does anyone know if it's possible to plug a mini-PC into a laptop and use the laptop's keyboard/monitor?

If FIFA (soccer international body) and the International Olympic Committee weren't so Trump-level corrupt, they'd move the 2026 World Cup and 2028 Olympics out of the United States. The U.S. barring of a Venezuelan Little League (!!!) baseball team shows you why.

After a long and desperate struggle I have a working Open5GS 4G core tested with a couple of LTE small cells. Verified that Gemtek WLTGFC-105, Sercomm SCE4255W, Baicells Nova 430i, and Nova 227 all work for me. Yay?

Hardest parts were packaging Open5GS and figuring out that Osmocom's pySim wouldn't program my SIM cards but some random Windows utility can.

Exasperated and disturbed the new IP license in the Mastodon TOS has no termination clause.

mastodon.social/terms-of-servi

Facebook and YouTube have terms saying that you can intentionally remove your IP grant by deleting the content. Twitter lets you remove your IP grant by deleting your *accounts*, which is punitive, but possible to exercise (I did). It's good very Mastodon's grant is Tumblr-style limited, but Tumblr eventually abused its. I want Mastodon to be as pro-user as *Facebook and Google*.

Microsoft, AWS, and even France-based OVHCloud say that they can't keep the US Government's hands off your data, if requested under the CLOUD Act.

👉 You can't guarantee data sovereignty using a provider that is subject to US law, even if your data is housed outside the US.

It looks like we are under attack, that prevented SSH connections to fail. We have deployed mitigations and the situation calmed down. Please let us know if the issue occurs again.
