@GuerillaOntologist Two key pieces of information that I think are missing from this piece:

1. There are grid-following inverters, and grid-forming inverters. The latter provide inertia and recovery, but are (currently) more expensive and less common. We'll see more of them in the future, though.

2. Inverters should randomize their cutoff threshold to avoid thundering-herd-style failures such as the one posited here. (Adding jitter/noise like this is a *classic* trick to improve system dynamics.) Again, many newer inverters do this, but it will take some time to see full adoption.

Basically, as renewables becomes a substantial part of the grid mix, we need to make them first-class participants in forming a reliable grid, not just supplementary elements. And we *have* the tech to do that, it's just lagging in places.

I got this industrial-grade "here's how to have multiple cranes going at once & not fuck it up" podcast guy & he's great

Here's his episode on how immigration crackdowns are real stupid. Good for sending to friends & family who need to hear that from a Worksite Guy.

They told Minnesotans to stay home. After the murder of Speaker Hortman and her husband—and the failed attempts on Senator Hoffman and his wife—fear was the official message.

But the people came anyway. In defiance. In grief. In purpose. This was the #NoKings rally in MN. #press

I was installing a PoE camera/doorbell (locally managed via Home Assistant), which meant making a new, long ethernet run. I figured that was as good an opportunity as any to teach my son how to crimp an ethernet cable.

We know a lot of protests are planned in the so-called US today. Here is one of our favourite up to date resources for mass demos.

BE SAFE. GO HARD

On this day in anarchist history, June 14th 2006, we remember the Oaxaca Commune, when a sit-in organized by a militant teacher's union transformed into a months-long popular insurrection against the Mexican state.

Police have arrested a man for handing out face shields to protesters in LA (I’ve also seen reports that he may have been distributing masks)

Why is this a crime? Why is providing PPE to people who are being hit with chemical munitions and rubber bullets an offence?

This is bleak.

Once again this ties back to disability rights.

If more people would help normalize masks; they wouldn’t have such an easy time vilifying them

Ironically these protests are going to lead to more disability, at least in part because police are making it impossible for people to protect themselves.

Sigh, the establishment Democrats' response to one of their senators being attacked by Trump goons was to beg.

They begged Trump to pretty please not do it again.

They begged everyone who'd ever given a nickel to one of their candidates to fork over more money.

They begged each other to find ways to please the right wing.

Taking to the streets on "No Kings" day is more and more essential.

So is organizing, starting in your neighborhood.

It's getting very, very late.

If there's anything that illustrated the hollowness of the Democratic Party as an effective opposition for me, it's this.

Yesterday, I watched a video of a sitting US Senator being thrown to the ground and cuffed by fed goons for asking questions of the fed official he has direct oversight authority over.

Within minutes, I'd gotten DOZENS of texts from Dems and Dem orgs asking for $5-$50 to "fight fascism."

That's it. "Are you terrified that your country is slipping into fascism? Pay me."

OK, as a military brat*, the idea of these upward-failing techbros commissioning in at Lt. Col. is extraordinarily offensive. They're basically buying their way into a rank that the military normally withholds from officers for decades.

For We the People to halt Trump’s autocratic breakthrough, millions of Americans need to feel like we’re part of something bigger. We need to understand that we’re part of a movement. We need to feel like we will win.

That’s where tomorrow’s #NoKings Day comes in. indivisibleteam.medium.com/the

Immigrants are a first target of rapidly expanding government surveillance, EFF's Matthew Guariglia told Truthout, but “if they can get away with doing these things to immigrants, what are the legal barriers from moving on to the next undesirable group?”
