As far as anybody can tell, this Op-Ed is the *only* reason why Marco Rubio had Rumeysa Ozturk kidnapped by ICE agents and revoked her visa: #^https://www.tuftsdaily.com/article/2024/03/4ftk27sm6jkj

I think everyone should at least give it a quick skim.  I think it's especially important for liberals from outside of the Tufts University community to see.  Please do what you can to put the Op-Ed in front of more eyes.

I should try this #GetFediHired thing…

Do you have a project or organization that could use some organizing and/or policy research muscle? I have a masters in public policy and a lot of experience in both community and online organizing. I like jumping in and helping out, whether short or long term and have a broad range of skills. I'm EU based but have dual EU/US nationality.

I have been working as a violin maker (yes, the whole thing starting from a lump of wood) so this is me looking to return to my roots. I'm more interested in a cool/worthwhile project than getting rich or anything like that.

Union boss Fain, who loves-loves-loves Trump's viciously counterproductive tariffs, denounces Trump's terrible targeting of unions. At least Fain gets it right about the latter.

I'm at a loss to convey how deep we're in it right now. To see the dumpster fire we're headed into, you have to know how farms, food, & money actually work.

And we don't even see it coming, bc US media has done a terrible job of reporting on ag for decades. I'm so sorry. You deserve better.

So that $10B bailout for farmers.

Is it a payout for political support? Yeah. Bold move for an industry that talks so much about hard work & independence!

But it's also worse than that. This is a US food crisis in the making.

Let's talk about the payoff part first?

"Vance would make the case that Danish leaders had “spent decades mistreating the Greenlandic people, treating them like second-class citizens" - theguardian.com/world/2025/mar what, like the US has done and still does to the native tribes of the continent? #Vance is now a by-word for global hypocrisy

Holy shit.

Just wow, wow, holy shit:

Completely rewriting a multi-million line COBOL codebase that has life-or-death consequences for real people in the space of a few months, using gen AI?

I’ve been writing software for 40-some years, and I have to say: this may be, without exaggeration, the stupidest software-related idea I’ve ever heard from leadership.

"Who Is Funding Canary Mission? Inside the Doxxing Operation Targeting Anti-Zionist Students and Professors

I wonder if a silver lining to the US' political implosion could be a the positive, collaborative solidarity within (politico.eu/article/greenland-) and among other sovereign nations outside the US. It already seems to be giving foreign leaders a chance to show their mettle and consolidate national support (e.g. Mexico's Sheinbaum - theguardian.com/world/2025/feb). Sucks to be the US, but I'm hopeful for the rest of the world for the first time in ages.

Huh, who knew?! I've been running a monthly 'Meetup.com' Free and Open Source Software Meetup since 2015, amalgamating an Ōtautahi group with a Tamaki Makaurau group at the start of Covid, and shifting to full online (thanks to CatalystCloud for sponsoring our BigBlueButton infrastructure). We've now got 1800+ members, and have been going for almost a decade now. 1/2

From Wounded Knee to #Gaza Same War, Different Lands

In this clip, Indigenous artist and historian #GordHill draws powerful parallels between the violent foundations of settler colonialism in North America and the ongoing military occupation of Palestine. Reflecting on phases of colonization—from invasion to occupation to cultural suppression—he maps how #Indigenousresistance has been violently subdued on Turtle Island and how that same process is still unfolding in #Palestine today.

I will also say that the UN also has a new inter-agency, extraterretorially hosted GitLab instance, although its not particularly mirroring any repos yet. (And resources are limited.)
