Listening to RNZ right now, hearing about Trumps insinuations about Ukraine's power plant ownership (by the US) is quite well aligned with the approach Naoim Klein described in 2007 in Shock Doctrine. In that book, she perfectly characterised the world we're in today. It's insightful and terrifying. Too few people in our democracies understand this stuff.

I'm sharing that link only as a citation to the quote, not because I think this guy is a good archeologist. His use of the term "pre-agricultural" gives him away as the all too common type who assumes teleology in human history, and a more-or-less tidy "progression" from hunter gatherer to agriculturalist. He's also a big fan of Pinker, which is a massive tell that there's some motivated panglossian reasoning going on here.

I've never been as simultaneously delighted and frustrated by a piece of software as I have been with InkScape. I'm sure the frustrations are just because I'm a newb, but man is ever it easy to accidently mess things up with a stray click...
