How wonderful.England’s rivers wont meet standards for good chemical health until 2063 they will contain toxic substances for decades. To think in September 2000 overall health of rivers was at 92% yet in 2022 they are at 14%. It is an absolute disgrace.

So here's the plan. I'm going to write a Rust executable, as my first non-trivial Rust project, to delete my >160k tweets. With the rate limits of the API, it'll take about 34 days. The way you do this is by parsing your archive dump.

Every 16 hours, I'm going to post a new status update tweet showing my progress visually, using unicode art. Once a day, the bot will also pester Mr. Musk.

I will post the code with no license, public domain, and then encourage people to run it.

My hope is that a few dozen people will do it, and it'll be beautiful spectacle.

Almost 2,000 manatees have died in Florida in two years, largely because of starvation as huge areas of the seagrass vegetation they eat have been destroyed by pollution.

Environmental groups are demanding the species be declared officially endangered again.

Solidarity - Neither dead nor defeated. As it's now known, on November 21st, 2022, a group of anarchists were attacked by a bodyguard and shock troops of the Mexican Regional Worker Confederation, at the order of their leader.

As a result of this unequal fight in which were were completely outnumbered, today we have two comrades who are seriously injured.

Without saying more, we are calling for solidarity to able to deal with the medical expenses this has brought about, and provide support to our comrades.

@lightweight Literally just had a discussion with a "journalist" who has received money from Google before, upset for me accusing someone he interviewed of "shilling" who works for a trade group funded mostly by FAANGs and founded and run by Google's former head of Public Policy. And he didn't seem to see anything wrong with that. 🙄

To the many who've joined the Fediverse this past week, just a clarification: the 'big tech' folk you see here from Microsoft/Google/Amazon/etc. have mostly also only just arrived, too, smelling 'green fields' into which to proselytise on behalf of their exploitative hyper-tech corp employers. If, for example, you think Microsoft is now a friend of #FOSS (Free & Open Source Software) then you've bought their PR. They are not. They're a tapeworm in the healthy gut of FOSS community ecosystems.
